...4/11/03: the first game for the ABQ Isotopes in their own stadium...they played against the Oklahoma Redhawks...it was a sold out game...there were fireworks before everything started...the GOV & Mayor threw some of the first pitches...many were hit to the spectators for souvenirs...this was the NM tax dollar at work, creating a state of the art stadium...people praised former Mayor Baca (who was also there) for pushing to build a new stadium, although he would have preferred it closer to downtown...now ABQ has a national baseball team, as well as a very modern place to play ball...and there is free parking!...the Isotopes lost the game 5-3, but no one seemed to mind (so far!)...and they lost their second home game!...
...4/11/03: left @1 PM...went home for lunch (see below)...went to the book store, then TARGET...Brad went to the garden shop on Lomas, I went to work for my paycheck...but there was none, because Tom is on vacation...

...4/11/03: near the corner of Menaul & Truman, police stopped suspects who were at a pawn shop trying to get money for jewelry they took from 3 people they killed earlier in the week...the cops collided into their vehicles & arrested the men...
...4/12/03: this may be the warmest day of the year, perhaps reaching 80 degerees (it did,depending on who you were watching on TV!)!...it did it again on 4/13/03...then the weather gets cooler with a chance of rain during the week...and windy!...Captain got his claw stuck on his brush and couldn't let go...finally he moved it enough such that it fell off from sheer momentum...the day the alarms went unanswered: every fire alarm in the complex was buzzing...it lasted at least 15 minutes, but no fire trucks arrived...then they all stopped...in that time period, it was quieter inside the apartments...why they all were going off is a mystery...

...4/13/03: there is a fire weather warning for SW NM, in the Deming & Lordsburg areas along I-10...4/14/03: the danger spreads to the entire northern half of the state...4/15/03: add a wind advisory for the same area, with gusts greater than 35 mph...change it to a high wind warning, for gusts 45 mph...4 feet of snow has fallen near the Lake Tahoe area...
...4/13/03: Brad's birthday, and it started with a smile & a bang!...we had an international lunch, with food from Turkey, Greece, Spain, [Portugal], England, France, Italy & Germany plus America...plus he created a delicious apple crumb tart!...a skunk strolled through the complex during the night...Captain has a relocated bathroom, near his dining room, just like us!...the NM cigaret tax went up 70 cents...the gas tax went up a penny...US 84/250 is under construction; while road work will stop during Holy Week, people who march in the pilgrimage to Chimayo are asked to start from Pojaque this year...arson is the casue for the burning of the mobile home owned by a known sex offender...people were glad it happened, just because he shouldn't be there (or near where they live)!...my wallet is disintegrating!...
...4/14/03: more airline companies face bankruptcy due to too few people & too many seats to fill...and Southwest still makes a profit...Tiger Woods lost the Masters title after a sudden death playoff...now, 4/13/03 was the warmest day so far...but cooler, windier conditions arrive on 4/15/03...Brad made pepper & feta salad...gave Cassandra a jar of rhubabr preserves...Captain patiently (not!) waits for me to get up from the black leather chair so he can resume his nap...he sits beside me on the carpet, watching me...the Isotopes won yesterday's game, 18-10!...I burnt 3 of my fingers by moving them under hot tap water...the Cat-woman took the second Central bus...
...4/14/03: Cassandra will be out on Good Friday, 4/18/03...she felt sick, and left @noon...I said she should stay home until she feels better, since things are less hectic...4/15/03: 59 degrees @4 AM...Cassandra called in sick...the day was off & on busy, moreso in the PM...are things really calming down in the hospital?...yes & no...told Dr. Harris that she wrote very good chart notes...

...4/15/03: and everybody knew the wind was blowing strong...gusts reached 62 mph at SunPort...part of the Rio Grande HS roof blew off...portions of I-10 were closed near Las Cruces...there was rain & hail & snow (a little in Santa Fe)...there was a winter weather warning for the San Juan MTNS...sustained winds reached 35+ mph in ABQ...the temperature dropped 11 degrees in 1 hour (from 60 to 49 between noon & 1 PM)...
...4/15/03: Brad whipped up a delicious macaroni salad...ABQ public school board may have been too quick & too harsh for suspending teachers who had pro- & anti-war posters...information can be displayed as long as the discussion focuses on that material...the board has been told to work with the principals...on US 84/285 construction crews have made & path & put up signs to help the pilgrims on their way to Chimayo...4/14/03: the Dow went up 143 points...

...4/16/03: Cassandra's mouse died at work...she rebooted her PC a couple of times, and the arrow finally reappeared on the screen...so she raised her mouse from the dead!...her entire family enjoyed Brad's preserves, so much so that she had to hide it from Miguel, who wanted more!...
...4/16/03: and Brad made B-B-Q Country Style Pork Ribs with a sauce made of ketchup, cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, dark brown sugar, dry mustard, chili powder, ginger, garlic vegetable oil & lemon...even Captain had a little of this feast...we finished with strawberries w/superfine sugar & balsamic vinegar...superb!...the pork was enjoyed as leftovers on 4/17/03 & 4/18/03...

...Cassandra returned to work on 4/16/03...she had a slight cough; after the mid-day events, I asked her if she was feeling a relapse of her illness!...my right pinky is still recovering from its burn...Rosanne issues a memo to her entire staff when a few (or 1) person has done something wrong...an E-mail sent on 4/16/03 from Rosanne said she would be out on 4/17 & 4/18/03...but she called Cassandra & E-mailed us notices of new doctors as late as 3 PM...
...4/17/03: there was a power blink in GPU @7:25 AM...Hope hasn't been seen or heard from since she did her thing on 4/16/03 to blame Coders...the Medical Records area is locked for security purposes...charts in our office to be returned there must be placed in a more secure location, so the public cannot access them...HIPAA, HIPAA Hooray!...
...4/18/03: Cassandra, Rosanne (I think!) & Geri will be out on Good Friday...Brad made lots of orange marmalade...by 4/20/03, 42 pilots will have been trained and able to carry a gun in their cockpit...there was an overnight shooting at the Frontier REST @Central & Cornell, near UNM...the path to Chimayo will be lit on Good Friday, thanks to the road construction crew...Bechtel has won the rights to rebuild the infrastructure of Iraq, a contract which could be worth over $600 million...
...4/18/03: Margaret wished Brad & I a Happy Easter!...so did many people in my area...GPU is full plus; 2 children did not have rooms, so were basically in the hallway...the 7-year old who got shot on 4/15/03 is improving; he will need physical therapy, since a bullet grazed his spinal column...Rosanne called & wanted to know if I wanted to change my leave from 30 to 59 minutes...I had no idea what she was talking about...she said I could go @3:01, which I did!...no leave was charged...
...4/18/03: it was a cool, breezy day..."in style" kids, one carying a bike; the other, a skateboard said Excuse me as they passed me on the stairs at UNM...I missed the E-bound Menaul bus by 2 minutes...I just made it on time for the W-bound Menaul...over the years I haven't got answers to some of my questions that grace this web site...that means the replies or responses weren't too important (at least to me!)...

...4/21/03: Cher's farewell show...40+ years as a diva!...Brad had an 8AM doctor's visit...the numbers look good!...I actually forgot to put on my bracelet...however, Brad's sofa shopping will be delayed until the wind calms down...Sixth ST still not opened; it looks like it might on 4/22/03...at the end of the day, all construction signs had been removed from the street itself...I was told not to use grey paper for charge correction forms, only white...it was hard for people to read what was written...this gave me a chance to practice my OK therapy...and it seems I might as well walk mail to Rosanne...for one reason or another, it is always returned to my office...I was also displaced by IS personnel who could not upload a program onto my old PC...after 2 failed attemps, I told him that I needed my terminal...I was also tired of him sleeping in my chair! ...while he was in my area, he took a short nap (or 2 or 3!)...our "bear" friend Ray may move to Las Vegas, NV...it's not OK in OK as the tornado season begins again...4/22/03: but there's also a tornado watch until 9 PM in the SW part of the state, near Clovis...
