...1/1/03: weather...34 degrees @7 AM...wind advisory through the central part of NM...heavy rains in the mid-Atlantic...7" of wetness in Tampa...snow in Denver...rain on the OR/WA coast...ice, snow & freezing rain in PA...rain in NYC...snow, possible 1-2 feet, in NY & New England!...make that 2-4 feet in Albany & the mountains of NH, VT & ME!...colder weather for NM on 1/6/03 (see below)...

...President Bush has the longest sustained approval rating, currently at 61%...that is 10% higher than on 9/10/01, but below the 90%+ approval after the 9/11 tragedy...the economy is still one of his major problems to solve...

...this is the third year in which stocks have lost ground...1/2/03: but the Dow Jones gains over 260 points to start the year...

...the Internet is 20 years old!...

...work appeared @11 AM from the PEDS Clinics on 1/3/03...enough for a small audit...the balance was from the specialty areas...

...114th Tournament of Roses Parade...the theme was Children's Dreams, Wishes and Imagination...

...Cassandra created the spreadsheets to monitor incoming green & orange cards...1/3/03: she also started learning how to code E/R billing sheets...the worst part is understanding the handwriting and learning new services...and, of course, she only heard from Geri about the mistakes she made, not the fact that she volunteered to assist that area in their backlog...like I said, Geri makes a good boss!...in spiteof this, Cassandra worked O/T for E/R on 1/4/03...

...1/3/03: @1 PM, both directions of Lomas in front of the hospital were empty...

...since Pat, our big boss, was not in; and Tom, the delivery person, was also absent, there were no pay stubs delivered to us...we would have to wait until 1/6/03...but, a call to the bank verified that our checks had been deposited...

...1/1/03: now, a war with Iraq is not a certainty, per President Bush..1/6/03: the same response is echoed from the UK...there is a nuclear crisis in Asia...China is being asked to diplomatically speak with N Korea...the US will not talk directly to N Korea at this time...the goal is to isolate that country from its neighbors & allies...opting for compromise but warning of confrontation, the UN nuclear agency demanded that N Korea abandon its atomic weapons program voluntarily or face escalated pressure from the Security Council...

...as of 12/28/02, the bus schedules have changed...they have shifted by 5 minutes, more or less...which means that I reach downtown & see the #5 & #11 drive down 5th...which means a long wait until the next bus...which also means when I am lucky, I will be at work very early...when I am not, I have about 10 minutes to spare (more or less)...

...1/1/03: Dr. Clericuzio of Dysmorphology was seen on Channel 2 @7:30 AM discussing FAS [Fetal Alcohol Syndrome]...she indicated that treatment was available at the DEPT of Pediatrics' urgent care clinic, which is associated with UNM's Children Hospital...

...1/3/03: I have a little story to tell you!...this is a true story...when I left work @4, I caught the #5 bus [Mont./Car.]...I then transferred to the Menaul before 4:30...I mention the time because it will be important...we stopped at the Social Security Office on Cutler, then turned N on Washington...ahead of us were some fire engines & an ambulance...no big deal, probably a fire...the time was now 4:30...there were police cars; one man told us we had to change our route...ahead, we could see cars that were stopped westbound on Menaul...suddenly there were cops of all types with guns; big guns!...we finally turned onto Turner where more & more cops were in the streets and the parking lots walking (or running) towards Washington...the bus drove N on Jeffereson, truned E on Menaul @4:35...at the comic book shop, I called Brad to watch the 5 PM news & explained the why, mush to the surprise of the store owner!...this is what actually happened: around 4PM, a man had shot & killed 3 people in the 2400 block of Washington ST location...he then ran to a Pawn Shop on Menaul & barricaded himself inside the building...through the evening, police were trying to negotiate with him to come out...the bars on the doors & windows prevented them from getting a clear shot...finally @7:30 (more or less), a robot broke the glass on the door, tore through the bars and the cops wounded the man while arresting him...he had a restraining order by one of the victims and has been arrested for domestic abuse...that is the actual story, I would never make up something like that!...lucky for me, the Eubank bus arrived to start me on my return trip home via Lomas & Central...I would not have got on the westbound Menaul; all buses on that route were being redirected around that area...

...our Shark vacuum cleaner shuts down when it overheats...we should stick it outside to cool it down...The Two Towers took in $25.6 million this weekend, making the fantasy epic's total $261.7 million in 19 days...

...during the week, we finished the Potato & Sausage soup, blended with the black-eyed peas, onions & mushroom soup...a very edible duo!...

...1/5/03: Brad made chili, corn cakes & lime salad dressing...all were wonderful!...

...why do people in their late 50s' & early 60s' want to have the most stressful job in the nation, that being the president?...

...1/5/03: 35 degrees @7:30 A...winter storm warning for the N & C mountains...5-10 inches of snow in elevations greater than 7500 feet...this storm will work its way into the area during the evening...ABQ temps on 1/6/03 in the low 40s' & very breezy...in DC, there is a chance of freezing rain...
