...7/13/03: Iraqis inaugurated a broadly representative governing council, 3 months after Saddam Hussein was ousted...in a deeply symbolic first public action, the council set April 9 - the day Baghdad fell to U.S. forces - as a national holiday and banned celebrations on six dates important to Saddam and his Baath Party...the next wave to capture anti-American forces is called Operation: Ivy Serpent...

...Claudette may be a class 1 hurricane when it makes landfall near Brownsville, TX in the PM of 7/15/03...at that point the sustained winds will be 60+ mph...

...7/14/03: and the day was hot!...started @80 degrees @4 AM...then 87 by 11...92 by noon...101 by 3 PM...104 @3:14 PM...101 @4 PM...this is the highest temp since 6/27/94...9 years ago, it reached 105 degrees on 6/25, 107 on 6/26 then 104 on 6/27/94...this is the 7th 100+ degree day this year...and 25 days w/o rain...PM dust storms in the downtown streets...these conditions are brutal...the triple-digit temps covered the entire state...7/15/03: another 100 degree day!...83 degrees @4 AM...this weather pattern may change by 7/17/03...remnants of Claudette may take aim on our state...we can only hope...post signs in Mexico & TX which read Claudette, New Mexico wants you!...

...7/12-13/03: for the first time in a long time, I listened to my Native American music...

...news on the war front is mainly a daily body count...US soldiers are dying at a faster rate than before the war "ended"...7/15/03: a rocket propelled grenade kills 1 soldier, injures 6 in Baghdad...to some Iraqis, life is not better without Saddam...7/17/03: we have now reached the same amount of soldiers who died in the Persion Gulf War (1991)...

...7/14/03: more rain along the East Coast...

...7/14/03: tonight in the sky will be a Buck Moon...it is darker & cooler waiting for the AM Central bus...Cassandra did not go the company picnic on 7/12/03 because it was too hot...and another child in CA is left alone in a car...the temp had risen from 80 to 110 degrees in 10 minutes!...

...heavy smog looms over Los Angeles...the same is true for Santa Fe...a temperature inversion is forcing the the haze to settle in lower levels of the atmosphere...drivers have to contend with thick smoke when driving...more & more people are having breathing difficulties...this can affect one's emotional state, also...7/15/03: the air quality in Santa Fe is worse than ABQ!...

...7/14/03: 10 AM Cardiology meeting cancelled...PICU doctors will also be working in CACU...Cassandra was not in on 7/15/03...Patrick is having dental work which will require anesthesia...he will not be able to drive...but a 2-year old started his father's golf cart and went for a ride until it crashed and he fell out...only minor bumps & bruises on the child...nothing is said about the golf cart's damages...but Cassandra cannot find bank documents that are needed for the refinancing of her home...if she does not have them by 7/18/03, the interest rates will have gone up!...we can hope for the best...these papers may be in their new storage area...7/15/03: the bank statements & other necessary paperwork was found in Cassandra's closet!...what a relief!...she slept well that evening!...now Hem/Onc wants billing sheets to contain I/P & O/P CPT codes!...the Endocrinology DEPT is being squeezed out of its area & into Carrie Tingley, thanks to Hem/Onc...they've got the power...

...7/14/03: Brad made incredible stuffed green peppers...

...will GOV Richardson play a key role in the (D) NATL Convention?...the (D) PRES candidates had a forum on gay & lesbian issues...

...Valium is 40 years old!...

...there will be record deficits for the next 2 years (as of now)...the deficit may reach$450 billion, which some say is still manageable...not been this high since the 80's & 90's when Republicans ruled the roost...2 years ago we had a surplus...but, 2 years ago was pre-9/11...Greenspan speaks...Wall Street listens...and the man still has confidence in the economy getting better...if not, lower the interest rates...Bush will be hounded by the African uranium sentence, even though it was backed by good intelligence...that should not have been a reason to go to war...the war which is costing us $4 billion per month...now, N Korea is on the threshold of creating nuclear weapons...those WMDs' are something we should worry about...military analysts claim that we could be at war with N Korea within a year...that is a scary thought...US should focus itself on the boys with the bombs, the real WMDs'!...

...7/15/03: the Adventures of Priscilla on BRAVO tonight...last night, I had a head spinning spell...dizzy & nauseous...felt like vomiting, but did not...I can thank Brad & antacid tablets...7/15/03: 6 AM and I am sweating!...7/16/03: slightly dizzy & woozy in AM...fought back by taking aspirin & sleeping pills...

...7/15/03: Celia Cruz, dead at 77 from a brain tumor...she has made more than 70 albums...

...the earliest bus on Lomas died near University...the temp on a summer day is usually 10 degrres warmer than at noon...it was 92 degrees at noon, and only reached 100...7/15/03: it was so hot @5 AM, that Captain just lay on the floor, resting...usually in the AM he stays near me when I'm preparing breakfast...

...7/16/03: the warmest low temp in NM history was recorded this morning, 78 degrees...Claudette struck the TX coast with 85 mph winds, gusting to 100...2 people died in the storm...the bad news is that only the S part of NM will receive little, if any, rain...maybe "normal" (low 90's) by 7/19/03?...92 degrees @noon...other bad news is that TX vacationers are complaining there was not advance warning on the storm, which struck earlier than expected...

...7/15/03: baseball All-Star Game held in Chicago...AL won, 7-6, with the lead & the game shifting between both teams up til the last inning...

...7/14/03: former President Gerald Ford is 90 years old...White House birthday celebration for him on 7/16/03...he is the fourth president to reach that age...

...7/16/03: E-mailed Rosanne about Data Entry not picking up corrected billing sheets...they did so that day...but they are sending back billing sheets without explaining what is incorrect...7/16/03: Cassandra forgot to E-mail Rosanne when she arrived at work...did so around 8:30...7/17/03: around noon, Cassandra could not send or receive E-mail...

...US soldiers are upset & vocally expresed their frustrations on TV, which may have been wrong in the military's eyes...broken promises anger them...2 previous "return home" dates have been cancelled...the Iraqi people of all ages do not like them or want them in their country...after they have left a section of a city...the violence & attacks start again...but some say we should restrain our displeasure while fighting in that country, or Saddam will be able to rally forces against troops with low morale...but US soldiers may face charges because they voiced their opinions on TV...many of their family members say there was nothing wrong in doing that!...

...DC has an arsonist, burning 14 in the city, and 10 in PG County...HumVs' are still seen patrolling the Bosque on a daily basis...and gas has gone up 2 cents, to $1.41...I do not like being snubbed by resident & interns when they find out "I am just a coder, not a doctor"...I am a stranger even where I work!...7/16/03: neither PSCU & half of CACU had discharges, but people were listed as being allowed to go home yesterday...Brad forgot to close the office window when he turned on the A/C...7 guards have been attacked in the last 10 days at the new jail...there have been problems were cell doors, security cameras & toilets overflowing...we coders now did not pick up all the NICU charges that are in The Book...but no one knows its location!...also accused of not sending a charge correction...dug, and found that it was sent the day after I received it...

...7/16/03: man drives through an open market in Santa Monica, CA...10 people died, 45 were injured...people say he may have had a heart attack...he may also have hit the accelerator instead of the break...questions arise...should he be charged with manslaughter?...is he too old to drive?...well organized guerilla attacks by Iraqis against our soldiers...2002 had the highest number of deaths from car accidents, over 45,000 nationwide...there were 17,000 accidents in ABQ during 2002... smog increases in cities across America...

...7/16/03: England's Prime Minister Tony Blair arrived in DC...he will receive the Congressional Medal of Honor, address Congress and steer away from the topics of intel reports & the State of the Union message citing uranium as one of the causes to invade Iraq...Bush says this was not the primary or only reason to go to war...one of the topics on the ABC nightly news has the caption Still at War...this is the 35th anniversary of the Baath's party rise to power...Saddam came much later...another audio was played on 7/17/03, urging people to overthrow the US puppet government of Iraq...the amount of soldiers killed in Iraq is equal to that of the Persian Gulf War...we have so many soldiers stationed overseas...their morale is very low...the National Guard may be called to defend Iraq...

...7/17/03: a cool morning at 73 degrees & 54% humidity...the amount of rain may depend on the amount of sun...flood warnings for the south, the rest of the state remains dry...calming therapy; a glass of milk before bed...some of Captain's hair is matting...he is irritable, and wants to claw when you least expect it (trust me, that is a true statement!)...a talkative drunk Native American woman on the AM Central bus...an open loaf of sourdough bread at the bus stop of 6th near Gold...a crowded PM Central bus, whose occupancy dropped by more than 50% when we got to Old Town ABQ...Mars is closest to the moon...7/17/03: Cassandra is upset...she is tired of Rosanne in a snit because C did not attend the division picnic, even though leave was approved befor the picnic was announced...Rosanne is saying she did not win the award as the manager with the most number of employees at the picnic...I do not recall that award being presented...enough is enough!...when you have to stoop to such lows...stop talking about last Friday; just drop the subject now!...if Rosanne had mentioned this event earlier, Cassandra may have attended...but what about Miguel?...he would have had to be with her, which may have irritated other mothers in the group...the good news is that Rosanne will be out on 7/18/03...but now we have the neverending topic of Conscious Sedation with Dr. Heideman & Dr. Crowley (& Becky!)...and us (sigh!)...

...there are cars of all years, makes & countries...7/17/03: Brad created a delicious stew with collard greens, onions, potatoes, pork, salt pork, salt, pepper, red pepper flakes, white wine vinegar & water...a joy to eat!...

...Geri has pierced her belly button...got a tattoo on her back...and is contemplating liposuction...is she having an early mid-life crisis?...
