DC has a chance of snow, temps in the 30s, typical cold for January; flurries from Boston to VA; light snow in Chicago & Raleigh, parts of I-20 & I-95; temps from 0s to 80s; FL chill; fog & smog in NW US; 60º in Billings, 50s in Orlando; warm in the W, cold in the E; 70s in Denver;
‘Sully’ & his crew will be at inauguration affairs; Welcome to Washington: ‘We are One’; they call the PRES ‘Obama’; history made, with a positive approach; demonstrations & preparations; celebration of American renewal; many workers will do their job from home, or watching the events at work, via their PC; ‘moving day’ at the White House, to be accomplished in four hours by a crew of 95, including a new paint job; a big step for America, starts today; while speaking, Obama will stare at Abraham Lincoln; the PRES cannot repair America by himself; We, ‘All’ the People; will people call in, as the ‘blue flu’ spreads across America; history will be made; the ‘responsibility era’ starts; how busy will the Internet be today?; it’s all of us, or none of us…and we must all remember, Obama is ‘only’ human, so we should expect & accept mistakes made by him during the next four, or eight, years; all trains to DC are booked; ‘social responsibility’; GOVT can only do so much; VP Cheney pulled a muscle, will be in a wheelchair; Gates will be in a secure, secret military location; NATL Mall museums will be open; we are all a part of history; one company cornered the market on peanut butter paste; MLK JR used the word ‘Negro’ in a speech; DC is under very tight security; very tight feeling on The Mall, and 5K portable potties; free ticket & $5K for each passenger of Flight 1549; the last First Family dinner was served at the White House; logistical challenge to DC, from MD & VA; extended hours for METRO, opening longer hours, walking is advised, as much as two miles from the place you want to be; everybody loves METRO!; two legends: Obama & MLK JR; ‘electric excitement’; Obama is as hopeful as ever; two million at The Mall: it’s as if the entire population of NM came to the Inauguration; both Lincoln & Obama had two children, aged seven & ten years old; METRO reopened at 4A; reaching across the aisle, to be bipartisan; crystallize the moment; challenges & difficulties faced by all Americans; AM church service; then briefed on the command codes to launch nuclear missiles; by law, Oath of Office taken by noon; $125 million of security forces; Dulles runway was crowded with corporate jets; the 216 ‘big donors’; even a recession can breed people with money; ABC Weatherman stuck at Seventh & D ST; as many security troops as are in AFG; Washington Woodstock; no security checkpoints at areas where tickets are not required; Obama went straight to the top; my mother would be so happy, Aretha Franklin sang at the Inauguration; the ‘day America stopped, and celebrated’; as a former DC resident, and as one-half of a gay couple, I am very glad to be alive, to see a day when a minority has risen to the highest office of the land, of our country, of America; may the new PRES be protected by the Powers Above, whomever he believes; we must understand that America is in the midst of a crisis; our country’s problems are serious & real; we must end the worn-out dogmas that have been proven not to work; can we do it?; well…we will build the roads & bridges; men & women whose labors have gone unnoticed should be praised for the deeds they do; this is a crucial time period: will our GOVT help its people?; Obama included his middle name ‘Hussein’; duties to our nation, and our world; this is a moment that will define a generation; sturdy alliances required; strength based on what you build, not what you destroy; shaped by our various cultures; patchwork heritage is our asset, not a liability; heading to the end of ‘a warming planet’; even SEN Ted Kennedy was there; the eighteen minute speech; can we live up to his proposed expectations?; words, shiny & smooth; ‘the names of the dead, who brought us here’; love: the mightiest word; turn to each other, not on each others; are we ready to restore our position as the world leader; multiple gowns made for tonight’s parties; the time is now, we need a sweeping change across our country; hugs, handshakes & kisses to the Gore & McCain families; how will the [R] rebuild, so many shattered dreams; and today, America took a deep breath; the First Family can still have privacy inside the White House, Chief Usher of 1600 PA AVE controls when servants can enter the more intimate areas; even reporters were shedding tears during the Inaugural Speech; can Obama lift a nation?; one nation, under a groove; no more space, so the NATL Mall was ‘closed’ at 9A; SEN Kennedy collapsed during Obama luncheon, admitted to HOSP, he felt better later in the day; the KKK, and its silent demonstrations: groups such as those should be allowed nonviolent actions, such as black armbands; crowd considered orderly; Obama is ‘cool’; the DOW is down 300+ points, closed below 8K; the $160 million inauguration; 1 – 2 million people packed the NATL Mall, and the parade route; woman fell onto the METRO tracks at Gallery Place–Chinatown stop; SEN Byrd also had minor health problems during the meal, but quickly recovered; the First Couple casually walked to the White House, as if they had lived there for a long time; are we ‘there’ yet?…not exactly; no arrests, no protests & no attacks; Kennedy had a seizure, should be released from the HOSP tomorrow; Obama is left-handed; the ‘solar trailer’; one SEN blocking Hillary’s confirmation; no ‘time off’ for the new PRES; people were compelled to witness history; the first African American PRES; 2,401 words in his speech; he is but one thread, in an amalgamated quilt; the First Family represents ‘everyone’; [R] have followed the party down a wrong path; handle what storms may come; this is ‘Mission: Accomplished’; peaceful transition of power, during a time of internal & external war; Michelle gave Laura a pen & journal, to help the former First Lady start writing her memoirs; the largest recorded crowd at the NATL Mall; ‘we will not apologize for our way of life’; if enemies unclench their first, we will extend an open hand; First Couple twice walked during the parade; 13K participants in the parade, which lasted into the night; there are too many pictures to capture the day, to provide the entire scope & feeling; the time to ‘set aside childish things’; and start a ‘season of service’; reality returns: MI boy spent ten days with his dead mother; gay ME mayor dated underage teen; the First Dance…at last, our love is here to stay;
